On September 11, 2013, we had the pleasure of hosting CUSTOMERELATE in San Francisco with the insightful Sophie Monroe of payment platform [WePay](http://wepay.com) and the ridiculously knowledgeable [Kevin Hale](https://twitter.com/ilikevests), who built WuFoo before becoming a Y Combinator partner.

Along with Olark founder Matt Pizzimenti and Chief Storyteller Laure Parsons, and a very large cake, we had rousing discussion about talking to customers and what makes it work.

At Olark, we’ve discovered that talking to customers DOES have immediate, measurable benefits. Just making that immediate connection improves retention and creates the basis for a long relationship.
