New AIM Buddies

If you are using Hab.la with AOL, you will need to use a new set of Hab.la buddies, to have the new buddies added you need to either go through the wizard again: http://www.hab.la/wizard or add the buddies manually:

  • hablamonitor2
  • hablauser1
  • hablauser2
  • hablauser3
  • hablauser4
  • hablauser5

Retooling AIM Support and MSN Support is Back

I strongly recommend any of our users who are using AIM to access Hab.la to switch to Jabber.

After extensive testing, and debugging we keep hitting the AOL rate limits and will have to rethink how our Hab.la AOL bots are working. For the time being we will no longer be notifying AIM users when buddies come to their site. However, AIM users will still receive messages from users who choose to chat with them.

We will be working through this problem in the coming weeks, and contacting AOL to explore all of our options.

The good news is that MSN Support is back. MSN support has been in testing for a few weeks and we are finally able to say that users who are on MSN and cannot use Jabber with Hab.la will be able to take advantage of most Hab.la features using their normal MSN Client.

Shh.. Top secret features

This is not the official release of these new features, but I thought I’d let our brave beta testers take a look at what we’ve been working on for the past month.

If you navigate to: http://staging.hablagroup.com:3000/

And sign up for an account, you will be able to chat with users on your website using MSN or AIM. That is to say, jabber will no longer be required!

Keep in mind that this is our staging server, and by no means stable. We often push out new releases, and wipe the database without warning. However, it might be fun for some of you to play with while we work out the bugs, before we send it to production.
